CLOT x Nike Air Force 1 | Sneakers & Box » clot-nike-af1-5

To welcome the Chinese Lunar New Year, Nike has teamed up with Clot to launch the lucky-red inspired Nike Clot Air Force 1, the auspicious addition to the Nike 1World AF1 Project.

The Nike Clot Air Force 1 pays tribute to the themes of luck, happiness and prosperity — as represented by the color red — which prevail during traditional Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations.

The highlight peel-off double-layer design feature was created to inspire people to seek beyond the superficial, to search for what lies within. The Clot design team explains: “We need to remember to never judge simply by what you see.”

The Nike Clot Air Force 1 comes in a special “Chinese Candy Box” packaging set. Traditionally, Lunar New Year celebrations include offering sweets and other edible treats from a red lacquer box to ensure a “sweet” year. Honoring this custom, the Nike Clot Air Force 1 packaging is a hexagonal red box with a partitioned tray layer, to hold shoe accessories, and matching lid. The box’s exterior is adorned with Clot graphics in black.

Shepard Fairey George Orwell Series

Artist of the moment Shepard Fairey’s work for 2008 was certainly not limited to the now ubiquitous image of Obama. Fairey was also commissioned by Penguin Books to design covers for the re-release of the Orwell classics 1984 and Animal Farm. Both covers have been produced as posters, which sold quickly at the initial UK launch. Obey will be offering them to US customers on December 31, 2008. The pair hits for $140. Biggie x Barron x SSUR | T-Shirt Collaboration

SSUR is proud to announce the release of the Notorious BIG collaboration tee. The King of Brooklyn 3 style tee release, which is scheduled to drop early January of 2009, will be sold exclusively at SSURPLUS in NYC, online at www.ssurempirestate.com and selected boutiques around the world.

Widely acclaimed photographer Barron Claiborne’s portrait of B.I.G. (taken a couple of days prior to the tragic death) would become the last and most notorious image of the legendary rapper (as well as the most bootlegged hip hop photograph ever taken). Barron, a long time friend and patron of SSUR, collaborated on a triptych of tees celebrating the famed image, presenting a true depiction of this widely misused portrait in all media (and formats).

SSUR, also hailing from Brooklyn, NY, added his artistic take on the Claiborne reproduction by creating a morphing effect of guns. Depicting an image which ultimately caused the death and silencing of the lyrical genius.

A.P.C. Spring/Summer 2009 Footwear

Today we can already give you a preview what to expect in terms of footwear from French brand A.P.C. The brand as usual keeps it simple and classic, while adding a bit of their own style to it. Two boat shoes are coming in brown and navy blue, featuring white leather laces and a matching all white leather sole. Also they present black and brown leather shoes, that work both casual and on the more dressy occasions.

Overall a solid line-up of footwear. Also do not forget their Nike collaboration (huummm), that is coming as well this season.

LIGHTNING BOLTS presented by Nike 6.0 and ARF

Nike 6.0 and the Athlete Recovery Fund (ARF) joined forces to present the final stop of the LIGHTNING BOLTS art show. In addition to the art show, Bob Haro unveiled his signature limited edition shoes. Nike 6.0 also premiered their BMX film, WRITING ON THE WALL. The event took place December 10th, 2008 in Hollywood, California at the Montalban Theatre. Here's a little peak into the event...Once again big ups to Mr. Nigel Sylvester

Oscar Grant Murdered by BART Police on Fruitvale Platform

Watching the local news this afternoon, I see that a young local, 22-year-old Oscar Grant, was brutally murdered by police at the Fruitvale BART station in Oakland. Of course, I had to google it and find that just the one local channel seemed to find it newsworthy. Funny how that works out. Anyhow, there were several eyewitnesses (hint on the network) whom indicated that the victim was facedown and handcuffed when he was shot. However, the AP news article i found indicated that there had been a verbally agressive altercation that had began a couple stops earlier in West Oakland and that "police were in the process of separating the men when the bullet struck Grant."

((I will not copy any more of the article because the fine print says you can't, and given the fact that none of the witnesses that were interviewed wished to be named (or hid their face) of course, I'll refrain from excessive rule breakage just for good measure.))

Additionally, every cell phone in the vicinity with the capabilities of video capture was confiscated. Of course, none of this was mentioned in the article, either. The newscast reported that BART police have no comment about IF in fact any this was captured on said cell phones or IF any were confiscated in the first place. The eyewitnesses say that the cops panicked after the gun went off and decided to take the handcuffs off. I, for one, am far more inclined to believe the words of an eyewitness versus the words of the word massaging heads in the responsible PR departments. All in all, the offending officer was mirandized. Of course, in the world of "accidents happen" to those in charge and everyone else gets reamed, he'll probably just get a nice little paid vacation. "Administrative Leave" they call it. I'll be surprised if anyone gets their cell phones back and how much privacy will be invaded with all that personal information in their hands.

A design masterpiece with tested technology

The technology found in the Murcielago LP640 has not been modified. The engine in the LP640 forwards is the classic twelve-cylinder engine with 6.5 liter displacement. At 8000 revolutions per minute, the power reaches an astounding 640 hp (471 kW). The huge torque, equal to maximum 660 Nm, ensures a powerful switch from any number of revolutions: even the slightest pressure on the accelerator is spontaneously transformed into thrust. The robotized e-gear changes gear faster than even the most expert driver. In addition, the permanent Viscous Traction four-wheel drive system ensures that every force is constantly translated into movement.

As in the original Murcielago LP640, the Reventon accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, with a maximum speed of over 340 km/h.

Last Wednesday December 10th, 10.Deep held their annual “Bail Out!” Holiday party in New York City. The jam-packed venue featured a performance by Kid Cudi with a host of DJ’s in attendance. Nike “Playmakers III” Event NYC

Nike kicked off the third installment in their “Playmakers” series at Niketown New York. The event showcased a plethora of highly sought-after yet unattainable kicks from the private collections of sneaker maniacs DJ Clark Kent, Mayor and All Day. In attendance were a handful of known personalities including the homie Aaron De La Cruz, producing a custom pair of kicks for DJ Clark Kent featuring his signature intricate pattern technique. Other pairs exhibited included the much talked about Tiffany Air Force 1’s and even some Money Cat’s with a midsole makeover.

Nike produces a pair of their Blazer model in a classic ACG motif. Everything from the buttery suede tonal uppers to the blacked-out midsoles screams outdoors. Accented with matching red laces and ACG tagging, slightly wider stance and new revised toe-cap these somewhat hybrids surely provide a refreshing approach to the traditionally slim silhouette of the Nike Blazer.
